Lula maintains overwhelming trader consensus for first place in Bahia's October 2026 presidential first round, driven by the state's status as a longstanding Workers' Party stronghold where he captured nearly 70% of valid votes in 2022. Incumbency advantages, sustained regional loyalty tied to federal social programs, and PT control of the governorship reinforce this positioning ahead of the August 16 campaign launch. National polling trends showing Lula ahead have not altered Bahia-specific dynamics. Scenarios that could realistically shift odds remain limited but include major late-campaign developments such as health-related withdrawals, significant turnout drops among core supporters, or unprecedented opposition consolidation that erodes the traditional Northeast margin.
