Flavio Bolsonaro’s commanding 90.5% implied probability of finishing first in Mato Grosso do Sul reflects the state’s consistent conservative leanings and longstanding alignment with the Liberal Party (PL) and Bolsonaro family brand. The July 2026 party convention nomination, backed by former president Jair Bolsonaro’s endorsement, consolidated right-wing support in this agricultural stronghold where the family maintains deep roots and voter loyalty. National polling shows tighter races overall, yet local dynamics favor the PL candidate over Lula or alternatives such as Ronaldo Caiado. Traders price in limited room for disruption before the October 4 first round, though developments like candidate alliances, debate performances, or unexpected regional turnout shifts could still alter the outcome in this competitive environment.
