Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate the daily minimum temperature in New York City on September 3 will occur during the early morning hours amid a persistent warm, humid air mass, with overnight lows projected in the lower 70s and some guidance centering near 69–73 °F. Persistent cloud cover, scattered showers, and dew points near 67 °F have limited radiational cooling, keeping readings well above the 1991–2020 climatological average low of 65.3 °F for the date. Current observations from Central Park and nearby stations show early-morning temperatures holding around 69–70 °F, aligning with model consensus and explaining the market’s heavy weighting toward the 66–69 °F bin. No significant frontal passage or drier air is expected before sunrise, so the minimum is unlikely to drop into the mid-60s or lower without an unforecast shift in steering flow.
