Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance project Chicago’s minimum temperature on September 4 in the low to mid-70s°F, driven by easterly flow off Lake Michigan moderating overnight cooling and lingering humidity with partial cloud cover. This consensus aligns most closely with mid-range bins around 72–77°F, though the tightly matched market-implied odds near 46% for both sub-68°F and 86°F+ outcomes reflect residual uncertainty in boundary-layer mixing, precipitation timing, and lake-effect variability across high-resolution models. Official observations from Chicago O’Hare or Midway airports will determine resolution once the 24-hour period closes.
