Official National Weather Service forecasts for Austin peg the overnight low near 76°F under partly cloudy skies, light variable winds, and a lingering warm, humid air mass that limits radiational cooling after daytime highs near 97–99°F. Model consensus from recent runs supports minimal temperature drop, consistent with late-September climatology under southerly flow and dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s that suppress clear-sky cooling. Trader emphasis on the 72–73°F bin as the modal outcome, followed by 70–71°F, reflects uncertainty around exact minimum timing, localized urban heat effects, and any evening convection that could briefly alter the cooling curve before resolution. Updated model guidance and NWS briefings tonight remain the key near-term catalysts.
