National Weather Service forecasts for Atlanta on September 22, 2026, show a high near 89–90°F under partly sunny skies with a 50% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, consistent with observed readings in the mid-80s by mid-afternoon. This aligns with the market's overwhelming 99.6% implied probability for an 86–87°F peak, driven by a northeast wind pattern and moisture that favors convective cooling before temperatures can climb further. Model consensus from official sources emphasizes storm timing as the key limiter, with historical September baselines around 82–85°F providing context for the modest deviation. A delay or absence of storms could allow readings to reach 88°F or higher, while stronger or earlier precipitation would reinforce the current range.
