Darline Graham, appointed to complete her late brother Lindsey Graham’s Senate term after his July 2026 death, advanced from the August 11 special Republican primary with 32.8% as the top finisher in a crowded field. She now faces Rep. Ralph Norman in the August 25 runoff. Trump’s endorsement has boosted her profile among primary voters, while Norman highlights his congressional experience, consistent alignment with Trump priorities, and questions the compressed timeline for vetting a political newcomer. A recent debate featured exchanges on experience, foreign policy knowledge, and campaign funding. Pre-primary polling showed a close race, and the short campaign window plus any late shifts in turnout or endorsements among South Carolina Republicans remain key variables ahead of the vote.
