Geordin Hill-Lewis holds an 87.5% implied probability in the market due to his position as incumbent Democratic Alliance mayor and party federal leader, combined with the DA’s established governance record in Cape Town ahead of the 4 November 2026 local government elections. He was formally endorsed as the DA’s mayoral candidate in June 2026 after succeeding John Steenhuisen as party leader in April, allowing him to campaign on continuity in service delivery, policing, and housing. Lower-priced alternatives such as Nontando Nolutshungu, Cheslyn Steenberg, Dereleen James, and Brett Herron reflect limited traction for opposition parties including the EFF, Patriotic Alliance, and ActionSA in a city where the DA has historically secured council majorities. The election timetable and voter registration surge have reinforced trader focus on Hill-Lewis’s frontrunner status.
