Recent moderation in South Korea’s headline CPI to 2.8% year-over-year in July 2026, below expectations and down from June’s 3.2% peak, reflects easing energy prices after earlier spikes tied to Middle East tensions. This has supported the 2.7–2.9% outcome bucket at 32.8% implied probability, narrowly ahead of the 3.0%+ range at 28.6%. Persistent upside risks from core inflation—now at a multi-year high—and robust semiconductor-driven domestic demand keep the contest tight. Bank of Korea and government forecasts center near 2.6–2.7% for full-year 2026, with traders monitoring upcoming CPI prints, oil volatility, and any further monetary policy adjustments for resolution signals.
