Recent moderation in U.S. producer prices, with the July 2026 PPI YoY easing to 4.7% from 5.5% in June and coming in below consensus, has anchored trader views on the August reading amid softening goods prices and a 3.1% drop in final demand energy. Core measures also cooled, with the ex-food-and-energy index rising just 0.2% month-over-month. Offsetting this, late-July oil price gains and commodity volatility could reintroduce upside pressure in August data due September 10. With market-implied probabilities tightly clustered between 4.6% and 5.1% (each in the mid-to-high 30s), sentiment reflects balanced uncertainty over whether the disinflation trend persists or rebounds, consistent with stable labor conditions and broader CPI easing to 3.4%.
