This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins the nomination for the Democratic Party to contest the 2026 election for Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island. The Democratic Primary is scheduled to take place on September 9, 2026. If no nominee is announced by November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be a consensus of official Democrat sources, including https://democrats.org/. Any replacement of the nominee before election day will not change the resolution of the market.A crowded Democratic primary field for Rhode Island lieutenant governor features incumbent Sabina Matos facing challengers including Xaykham Khamsyvoravong, Sue AnderBois, Cynthia Armour Coyne, and Ross McCurdy ahead of the September 9 vote. Recent polling shows Matos and Khamsyvoravong narrowly ahead but with undecided voters near 45 percent, while a state party convention produced no endorsement and split delegate support. Congressman Gabe Amo’s August endorsement of Khamsyvoravong added momentum to the challenger alongside stronger early fundraising, even as Matos retains labor and municipal backing. Lingering effects from Matos’s prior nomination-signature issues and broad agreement among candidates on key policy questions have kept the contest competitive. Trader pricing reflects this uncertainty and the potential for late shifts from endorsements, turnout, or additional polling in the final week.
