Recent late-August polls from Forschungsgruppe Wahlen, Infratest dimap, and others place the CDU at 22-23 percent, projecting roughly 18-22 seats in the 83-seat Landtag ahead of the September 6 election, well below its 2021 result of 40 seats. This decline amid AfD strength near 40-42 percent has compressed projections into overlapping seat ranges, with traders assigning near-equal weight to bins around 17-25 seats. Uncertainty stems from roughly 10 percent undecided voters, variable turnout, and the 5 percent threshold's impact on smaller parties like the Left, SPD, and Greens, which could alter remainder seats. Final campaign events, mobilization efforts by the Schulze-led CDU, or last-minute shifts in preference could widen separation among these closely matched outcomes.
