The near-even market split between bins above 76°F and 57°F or below stems primarily from uncertainty in how strongly a northeast wedge of cooler, drier air—pushed by high pressure over the Northeast—will suppress overnight temperatures in Atlanta on September 24. Official NWS Peachtree City guidance and multiple model runs point to a Thursday low in the upper 50s to mid-60s, close to the 1991–2020 climatological average of 63°F, following unseasonably warm conditions earlier in the month. Key variables include the exact westward extent of the wedge, residual moisture, and potential for partial mixing that could keep readings milder. Traders are watching the next NWS forecast updates and overnight model cycles for clearer signals on whether the low trends toward the cooler or warmer side of the distribution.
