Christine Fréchette assumed the CAQ leadership and premiership in April 2026 following François Legault’s departure, prompting efforts to rebrand the incumbent party amid significant caucus turnover and declining support. Key factors include the fixed election timeline, ongoing campaign preparations, and voter preferences on sovereignty, economic issues, and leadership continuity, with the market’s implied probabilities aligning closely with current public opinion data rather than historical incumbent advantages.
