Recent strength in the August ISM Services PMI at 55.4, exceeding consensus by over a point with new orders at 60.9 and business activity at 61.7, has anchored expectations for September near the mid-54s despite the 12-month average near 53.7. Elevated prices paid at 72.6 reflect sustained tariff and Middle East supply-chain pressures, while the employment subindex remains in contraction at 47.8, signaling firms' reluctance to expand headcount amid cost concerns. Market-implied odds therefore balance resilient demand and summer seasonality against risks of moderation toward historical norms ahead of the early-October release.
