This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 23 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.**Persistent low-pressure trough and scattered thunderstorms over southern China are the main drivers keeping market-implied odds tightly clustered between 28–32 °C for Hong Kong’s maximum temperature on 23 August 2026.** Official guidance from the Hong Kong Observatory and multiple forecast models shows southwesterly flow at force 3–4, high humidity (70–95 %), and a broad trough that favors mainly cloudy conditions with showers or thunderstorms, especially in the morning and early afternoon. These conditions limit surface heating and produce a typical daily range of roughly 27–32 °C. Recent activity from a low-pressure area that crossed Hainan and lingering systems near Taiwan has maintained this unsettled pattern through the weekend, preventing clearer skies that would otherwise push readings toward the upper end of the distribution. Model consensus and climatological context (August average high near 31 °C) therefore support the even probabilities across 28–32 °C, while the low odds for 33 °C or above reflect the cooling effect of widespread cloud and rain. Traders are effectively pricing the narrow window between thunderstorm timing and any brief afternoon clearing that could add or subtract a degree or two from the daily peak.
