Incumbent UPND holds a commanding position in Zambia’s National Assembly race due to strong polling leads for President Hakainde Hichilema, incumbency advantages, and opposition fragmentation ahead of the August 13, 2026, vote. The party benefits from 15 unopposed parliamentary candidates, limited opposition presence in roughly one-third of constituencies, and recent polls showing 55-63% support versus a divided field led by NRPUP’s Brian Mundubile. Economic recovery narratives and coalition expansion further bolster trader consensus reflected in the 97% probability. Late counting disputes, successful opposition legal challenges, or unusually high independent gains could still alter the seat distribution before final certification.
