Early industry predictions position Digger as the frontrunner for the 2027 Oscars Best Makeup and Hairstyling category, driven by Kazu Hiro’s involvement and Tom Cruise’s transformative work, while Werwulf, The Odyssey, and Clayface trail closely with implied probabilities around 30 percent each. Traders see these films leading due to December release timing for Werwulf’s creature effects, Nolan’s epic scale on The Odyssey, and superhero transformation demands on Clayface, alongside guild and branch appreciation for prosthetics-heavy projects. Dune: Part Three sits lower at 18 percent amid competition from other technical contenders. The category’s tight race reflects historical voting patterns favoring standout makeup teams and practical effects over spectacle alone, with momentum likely shifting after full releases, trailers, and precursor buzz later in 2026.
