Dune: Part Three holds the strongest trader consensus for the 2027 Best Visual Effects Oscar at 58.5% implied probability, driven by the franchise’s prior wins, Denis Villeneuve’s established VFX pipeline, and positive early reactions to released footage showcasing expansive world-building. Project Hail Mary sits at 18.5% on the strength of its ambitious space visuals and early critical buzz, while The Odyssey, Avengers: Doomsday, and Godzilla Minus Zero trail further behind. A wide field of other titles registers at 50%, reflecting limited volume and high uncertainty this far ahead. Key swing factors include the impact of December 2026 releases, additional trailers, and guild precursor signals, with historical precedent showing that even dominant franchises can face upsets when facing standout original effects work.
