Lebanon's parliamentary elections, originally set for May 2026, were postponed by a March 2026 parliamentary vote extending the current term by two years amid escalating conflict with Israel and Hezbollah. This delay amid displacement, security challenges, and ongoing hostilities has left the field fragmented, with Amal Movement holding a modest edge at 2.3% as the party of longtime Speaker Nabih Berri and key partner in the Shia alliance. Other established groups such as Lebanese Forces, Free Patriotic Movement, Kataeb, and Progressive Socialist Party, along with smaller movements, register near-zero implied probabilities due to the uncertain timeline, disputes over electoral rules including diaspora voting, and the absence of recent national polling or candidate consolidation. Trader consensus reflects the barriers posed by sectarian seat allocations, potential shifts in alliances, and the need for de-escalation before any clear frontrunner can emerge.
