Recent polling averages show Democrat James Talarico holding a narrow statewide edge over Republican Ken Paxton in the 2026 Texas Senate race, with Talarico ahead in surveys from multiple firms as of mid-September. Talarico’s record fundraising haul, broad independent support, and gains among Hispanic voters have bolstered trader expectations for competitive performance in suburban counties like Denton, which features shifting demographics and a mix of Republican-leaning precincts. Paxton secured strong primary support there after defeating incumbent John Cornyn but carries ongoing legal and ethical scrutiny that continues to weigh on general-election positioning. With the November 3 contest weeks away and both candidates consolidating bases, minor shifts in turnout or late developments could alter county-level margins.
