Ülle Madise holds the strongest position in the market for Estonia’s next president due to her broad parliamentary backing ahead of the indirect election scheduled for September 2, 2026. As incumbent Chancellor of Justice, she has secured signatures from 62–67 Riigikogu members—primarily from the Reform Party, SDE, and Estonia 200—placing her within striking distance of the 68 votes required for election in the first round. President Alar Karis’s decision not to seek a second term opened the field, prompting parties to coalesce around Madise as a consensus, institutionally experienced candidate capable of avoiding an electoral college. Lower-probability names such as Mart Helme (EKRE), Riho Ühtegi, and others reflect narrower or partisan support and face structural barriers to nomination or victory in parliament. Trader consensus reflected in these prices aligns with the rapid consolidation of cross-party signatures in recent weeks and the absence of viable competing candidacies with comparable momentum.
