Paul St-Pierre Plamondon of the Parti Québécois holds the strongest trader consensus for next premier, driven by consistent polling leads near 30 percent ahead of the October 5, 2026, provincial election, outpacing the Liberals and governing Coalition Avenir Québec. The PQ’s position reflects voter shifts following François Legault’s January 2026 resignation and the April leadership transition to Christine Fréchette, whose approval ratings have since declined amid broader dissatisfaction with the incumbent party. Charles Milliard’s Liberals and Fréchette’s CAQ trail in recent surveys, limiting their implied probabilities, while lower-ranked figures such as Ruba Ghazal and Éric Duhaime remain marginal due to their parties’ weaker standings. Recent PQ outreach to anglophone voters and emphasis on sovereignty have reinforced momentum without major reversals in the final months before the vote.
