A crowded field of 22 candidates for Lima’s October 4, 2026 municipal election has produced a fragmented contest with no dominant frontrunner, reflected in tightly clustered trader odds among leading names such as Carlos Bruce, Francis Allison, and Samuel Daza. Recent candidate registration closures and the resignation of Luis Rubio, which opened the door for potential replacements or shifts within Renovación Popular, have kept momentum fluid according to Ipsos polling. Peru’s weak party system and shifting alliances continue to split voter support across established figures and lesser-known contenders, limiting any single candidate’s path to a clear majority. Limited early polling data and the absence of decisive campaign events leave room for late swings from endorsements, alliances, or turnout patterns among key districts ahead of election day.
