Incumbent Prime Minister Mark Brown’s commanding 98.5% implied probability reflects trader consensus on his Cook Islands Party’s strong performance in the August 12, 2026 general election, where preliminary results positioned the party to secure the largest bloc and form a coalition government. Brown’s incumbency advantage, preferred-leader polling ahead of the vote, and focus on economic recovery and regional partnerships have reinforced expectations of continuity. Potential challenges to this outcome remain limited but include protracted coalition talks with independents or shifts in parliamentary support if final seat tallies alter the balance.
