This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's ongoing government crisis, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence vote that toppled Ilie Bolojan’s coalition cabinet, has left parliament fragmented and without a stable majority. President Nicușor Dan’s subsequent nominations of Eugen Tomac and Adrian Veștea both failed to secure confidence votes amid opposition from the far-right and party divisions. Alexandru Nazare, the sitting PNL Finance Minister, has emerged as the frontrunner after securing preliminary backing from PNL, USR, and UDMR for a potential minority pro-EU government focused on fiscal stabilization and EU fund access. Sorin Grindeanu, PSD leader, trails as his party’s earlier coalition exit and demand for rotation complicate renewed grand-coalition talks. Traders price Nazare highest due to these recent cross-party signals, while the field remains open pending further parliamentary maneuvering before year-end resolution.
