This market will resolve to "Yes" if the President of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, is formally impeached by the South Korean National Assembly by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." For this market to resolve to "Yes" it is only necessary that the National Assembly propose and approve a motion of impeachment against Lee Jae-myung, regardless of whether the Constitutional Court later upholds the impeachment. The primary resolution source for this market is official information from the South Korean government, however a consensus of credible reporting may be used.**President Lee Jae-myung, who took office in June 2025 following the removal of his predecessor, maintains strong institutional protection against impeachment through the Democratic Party’s majority in the National Assembly.** The party holds 161 of 300 seats as of mid-2026, far short of the two-thirds threshold required for the legislature to advance an impeachment motion to the Constitutional Court. A citizen petition filed in June 2026 gathered over 100,000 signatures but advanced no further, consistent with repeated assessments that the ruling party’s control renders such efforts nonviable without broad cross-aisle defections that have not materialized. Recent polling shows Lee’s approval rating fluctuating in the mid-to-high 40s to low 50s amid economic pressures and local election fallout, yet these levels have not generated sustained momentum for removal proceedings. Ongoing legal matters from his pre-presidency period remain insulated by executive protections, and no new scandals or legislative actions have shifted the balance. Traders therefore price the “No” outcome at 93.2% as reflecting the structural barriers and absence of acute political catalysts through the remainder of 2026.
