Recent polls for the September 20, 2026, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag election show the AfD leading stably near 36 percent, with the incumbent SPD holding second at 28–29 percent. This consistent gap—unchanged in substance across Infratest dimap and INSA surveys from May through early August—positions the SPD as the near-certain second-place finisher under proportional representation rules. Smaller parties, including the Linke near 11–12 percent, CDU near 9–10 percent, and others below or near the 5 percent threshold, remain well behind in every recent survey, offering little scope to overtake the SPD before election day. Traders have priced this polling stability into the market, with the SPD share reflecting the absence of major late shifts or scandals that could reorder the ranking.
