This market will resolve to “Yes” if Pete Hegseth ceases to be U.S. Secretary of Defense for any period of time between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Pete Hegseth's resignation/removal by this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. The resolution source for this market will be official information from Pete Hegseth and the U.S. government; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Trader consensus on the "No" outcome at 86% reflects sustained presidential backing for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth amid ongoing Pentagon leadership changes.** Hegseth has continued directing the removal or non-promotion of dozens of senior officers since his January 2025 confirmation, including recent actions targeting additional Army two-star candidates and contributing to the August 31, 2026, resignation of Army Secretary Dan Driscoll after reported clashes over modernization priorities and morale. President Trump has publicly reaffirmed support for Hegseth's approach, including during Cabinet discussions, even as isolated Republican criticism—such as Senator Thom Tillis's September 4 call for replacement over management concerns—has surfaced. With roughly eight weeks until the October 31 resolution date and no confirmed signals of an impending departure or Senate pressure sufficient to force one, the pricing aligns with the expectation that structural and political factors will keep Hegseth in place through that window.
