Mendoza, who signed a fully guaranteed rookie deal after leading Indiana to an undefeated national title in 2025, is expected to see opportunities as the season progresses, though the team has prioritized measured reps over an immediate handoff. Factors such as Cousins' early regular-season results, Mendoza's practice progress, and any injury developments will shape when the transition occurs.
