Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund sit level at 48% in the early market for most Bundesliga clean sheets in 2026-27, reflecting their status as the two sides with the strongest recent defensive foundations. Dortmund conceded the fewest goals last season and posted the best underlying expected goals against metrics under Niko Kovac, while Bayern conceded 36 but enter with added depth at the back via Nathaniel Brown and continuity in goal. The broader field remains tightly bunched because multiple clubs strengthened their backlines through summer transfers, goalkeepers like Gregor Kobel and Moritz Nicolas continue to anchor competitive units, and the 34-match schedule introduces variables such as fixture congestion, injuries, and form fluctuations that limit any single favorite’s dominance in a parity-driven league.
