The recent FOMC decision on September 16 to raise the federal funds target range by 25 basis points to 3.75-4 percent, coupled with projections for additional hikes by year-end amid 3.7 percent inflation, has reinforced trader expectations for tighter monetary policy and lifted the DXY to the 100.5 area, its highest levels since late July. Hawkish remarks from regional Fed presidents have sustained the move higher, while volatile oil prices tied to Middle East diplomacy and upcoming meetings involving U.S. and foreign leaders introduce near-term uncertainty around inflation trajectories. With the index up over 3 percent year-over-year and trading above its long-term average, market-implied odds reflect capital flows favoring USD strength until clearer signals emerge on the pace of further tightening or growth data.
