The 2026 USL League One campaign features 18 teams and expanded parity after five expansion sides joined the league, diluting historical advantages held by repeat contenders such as Union Omaha and defending champion One Knoxville SC. Mid-August standings show a tight cluster at the top, with Union Omaha, Charlotte Independence, One Knoxville, Forward Madison, and Athletic Club Boise separated by just a handful of points after roughly 19-21 matches each. Several clubs, including Portland Hearts of Pine and Greenville Triumph SC, remain within striking distance despite mixed recent results, while the single-elimination playoff format for the top eight keeps late surges viable. Power rankings and form indicators continue to shift weekly amid a compressed schedule, travel demands, and roster adjustments typical of the third-tier circuit, sustaining broad trader consensus across the field rather than consolidating around early frontrunners.
