SMU and Louisville sit as the primary challengers, with strong returning quarterbacks and portal additions positioning them for top-two finishes in most projections, while Clemson and Georgia Tech round out the next tier. Defending champion Duke faces steep roster turnover and low expectations after its 2025 title run. Early September results, including conference openers and non-conference matchups, will quickly shape division standings and playoff implications, with Miami’s projected nine conference wins reflecting the consensus edge from media polls and betting markets.
