Linda Fruhvirtova enters the WTA 125 Istanbul 2 hard-court opener as the higher-ranked player (No. 162) against Xinyu Gao (No. 260), with both holding similar 2026 win-loss records near .500. Fruhvirtova’s greater tour-level experience and recent Grand Slam appearances give her an edge on this surface, though she has dropped her last several matches and exited early on clay in the prior Istanbul event. Gao, a former top-125 player, has shown flashes in ITF events but faces a step up in competition. Their limited head-to-head history offers little additional clarity, leaving the outcome dependent on current form, serving consistency, and adaptation to the fast hard courts in Turkey.
