Routliffe and Sutjiadi enter this National Bank Open doubles round-of-16 clash as the stronger unit, buoyed by their recent WTA 500 title at the Washington Open where they dropped no sets and demonstrated consistent hard-court form throughout 2026. The New Zealand-Indonesian pairing has compiled multiple titles this season, including strong results on faster surfaces that align with Toronto conditions. Mihalikova and Nicholls, by contrast, arrive after a productive grass-court stretch that included a Queen’s Club title and a London final, plus a first-round win here, but they remain lower-ranked as a team with less proven hard-court pedigree at this level. Recent head-to-head patterns and surface transition favor the top seeds, though the British-Slovak pair’s current momentum and doubles experience keep the matchup competitive.
