Vithoontien enters as the clear favorite in this ITF Edwardsville hard-court encounter due to his superior ATP ranking near 695, left-handed game, and established pro experience at age 26, compared to the 18-year-old Palavestra’s lower ranking around 1789 and recent transition from junior and collegiate tennis at Ohio State. Vithoontien’s recent activity includes a three-set loss to Stefan Kozlov in Bloomfield Hills, while limited public data exists on Palavestra’s pro results. Head-to-head history is absent, so form, physical conditioning, and adaptation to the event’s conditions will likely determine whether the younger player can challenge for an upset in the early rounds.
