Frances Tiafoe enters the Cincinnati Open second-round matchup against Lorenzo Sonego with a strong 2026 record of roughly 31-14 and 15-8 on hard courts, reflecting consistent recent form that includes a win over Marin Cilic. The American, ranked near No. 20 and seeded 17th, benefits from a bye and home-crowd support on the outdoor hard courts. Sonego, ranked around No. 88 with an 8-12 seasonal mark, has shown inconsistent results and relies on a powerful serve that can produce unforced errors under pressure. Sonego leads the head-to-head 3-1, but Tiafoe's superior ranking, hard-court results, and momentum position him as the clear market favorite in this Masters 1000 encounter.
