Sebastian Ofner and Kei Nishikori meet in US Open qualifying on hard courts, where Nishikori enters via wildcard in his announced final season while Ofner, ranked near No. 127, battles recent form and a recurring heel issue that sidelined him from Davis Cup. Nishikori snapped a long win drought with a comeback victory over Juncheng Shang in Washington but has since posted mixed qualifier results, including a straight-sets loss to Michael Zheng. Ofner has dropped multiple hard-court matches in Montreal and Cincinnati qualifying and holds the head-to-head edge after defeating Nishikori in Miami in 2024. Trader focus centers on Nishikori’s veteran resilience and motivation versus Ofner’s inconsistent results and physical questions entering the event.
