Rafael Jodar enters the Cincinnati Open round of 64 as the clear favorite on outdoor hard courts, backed by his top-15 ranking, strong 2026 hard-court results including deep runs in Washington and Montreal, and recent straight-set wins over quality opponents. The 19-year-old Spaniard has shown consistent baseline power and improved serving that align well with the fast conditions. Denis Shapovalov, despite a first-round victory over Adrian Mannarino, carries a mixed 2026 record and trails in head-to-head history, with inconsistency in closing out matches remaining a factor. The wisdom of crowds reflected in current pricing highlights Jodar’s edge in recent form and athletic matchup advantages, though Shapovalov’s experience and lefty game could produce competitive sets if he finds early rhythm.
