Rinky Hijikata enters the Winston-Salem Open first-round matchup as the clear favorite against young American Darwin Blanch, driven primarily by his superior ATP ranking near No. 95 compared to Blanch’s position around No. 224. Hijikata brings greater experience on the hard-court circuit, including recent wins over players like Gael Monfils and Luciano Darderi in Cincinnati before a third-round exit, while posting a 10-15 record for the year. Blanch, an 18-year-old with limited main-draw exposure and a 1-2 mark in 2026, relies on raw potential but faces a steep challenge in his debut against a veteran with stronger consistency and serve-return metrics on this surface. No head-to-head history exists, and both appear healthy heading into the Stadium Court encounter, with Hijikata’s established baseline game and schedule familiarity likely anchoring trader consensus on his advancement.
