Matej Dodig and Mili Poljicak, two young Croatian players ranked near 250-260, face off in the first round of the Como Challenger on clay. Poljicak enters with stronger 2026 results, posting a 36-18 record and multiple deep Challenger runs on the surface, including a strong showing in San Marino. Dodig holds a slight ranking edge and better break-point conversion recently but has shown inconsistency after early losses. Their only prior meeting came in March at the Split Challenger, where Poljicak led 4-1 before Dodig retired with an ankle injury. Both players favor clay, with comparable serve and return metrics, keeping the matchup tightly contested heading into the draw.
